Menswear Challenge

Fashpolitico has been challenged by @ashmcgregor on her menswear reporting.  He is not sure I cut the mustard when it comes to the fashion of the opposite sex.  So here are a couple of my recent male fashpolitico spots with some commentary from me.  Let me know what you think Ash – have you a better commentary or some more fashionable spots to challenge me with?!

The first is Fashpolitico’s own MP @ChukaUmunna showing the political classes how to dress when marching for an alternative.

The smart coat with a faded dye added a touch of fashion (apparently it is from Zara) whilst the white open necked shirt with a navy cardigan looks smart without falling into the Conservative smart casual cliché of a striped shirt with two buttons undone.  A job well done.

My second male fashpolitico of choice is a German MEP, Peter Simon.  His thin suits and horn-rimmed glasses are the Mad Men inspired look of the season.  But more importantly, I think somehow (and I really do not know how) he also manages to pull off wearing a baseball cap.

@ashmcgregor, I await your verdict!

Raybans

Raybans

Rayban sunglasses have been all the rage this summer - this non-shaded pair add the right amount of gravitas to a meeting.  Though I might have to sort out my photography technique if this blog’s going to work!

2012

I’m starting to warm to the 2012 logo – and this version is perfect when representing Britain in Brussels.

Appropriate baggage

Briefcase

A classic suitcase and a tall Dutch man on the 7am Eurostar to Brussels.  A train guaranteed to be packed with politicos, some with the right degree of continental flair.
